OTDL Course

The Polish professional rope access technicians’ association, modelled on the IRATA system.

OTDL (Organisation of Rope Access Technicians) is a professional association of rope access technicians founded in Poland in 2009. It establishes guidelines for carrying out rope access work and for delivering training licensed by OTDL.

The OTDL system is modelled on IRATA, with a training programme expanded to cover aspects of rope work specific to Poland. The OTDL technician certificate is widely accepted in Poland across industries using rope access on land.

Training levels

OTDL Level 1

4 days + 1 exam day

For those starting a career in rope access. Basic stations and anchor points, rope and rescue techniques.

OTDL Level 2

4 days + 1 exam day

Requires a minimum of 12 months as Level 1 and 1,000 working hours. Hauling, rope transport and self-rescue techniques.

OTDL Level 3

4 days + 1 exam day

Requires a minimum of 12 months as Level 2 and 2,000 working hours. Advanced self-rescue and team rescue techniques.

Direct Transfer

4 days + 1 exam day

To Level 2 or 3 for individuals with substantial, documented experience — subject to approval by the OTDL Verification Committee.

  • Medical certificate authorising work at height above 3 m
  • Physical and mental fitness ensuring safe work at height
